Caption standards
For humans and AI agents · Version 2026-09-26.2 · Updated 2026-09-26
Working reference for humans and AI agents editing artwork titles, dimensions and edition captions. Documentation approval is not approval to change artwork data or deploy a pending layout.
Use the inch mark ″ (U+2033), immediately after each measurement. Normalize straight double quotes, curly quotation marks and doubled apostrophes only when they are being used as inch marks. Keep all numerical values, decimals and dimension order unchanged.
24″ × 24″ × 56.4″
ApprovedAll collections
Dimensions: use the multiplication sign
Use × (U+00D7) between dimensions, with one space on each side. Replace x or X only as dimension separators. Do not infer width, height or depth from an image, reverse dimensions, round measurements, or change units.
24″ × 40″ × 76″
ApprovedAll collections
Editions: no colon
Write EDITION OF followed by a space and the verified edition count. Keep the count unchanged. Every size must remain associated with its own edition; identical counts for two sizes still represent two separate size-and-edition pairs.
EDITION OF 6
Approved and appliedSculpture Collection
Sculptures: one size and edition per row
Keep each size and its edition together on one logical line. Stack multiple size-and-edition pairs vertically. Do not combine them with an ampersand or replace them with EDITION OF 6 IN EACH SIZE. Natural wrapping on narrow screens is allowed; do not clip text.
44″ × 48″ EDITION OF 6
22″ × 24″ EDITION OF 6
Arseni supplied the revised Lips and Love wording and reported David's Yes on 26 September 2026. Arseni then approved applying this format throughout the Sculpture Collection.
Approved and appliedCollection artwork captions
Side-by-side caption columns are rejected
Keep size-and-edition rows vertically stacked. Do not arrange separate size-and-edition blocks in side-by-side columns. This applies to collection pages, mobile pages, full-screen captions and the text library.
Approved and appliedAll seven collections
All collections: one size and edition per row
Keep each size and its own edition together on one logical line. Stack additional size-and-edition pairs underneath. Use this format on desktop, mobile, full-screen view and in the text library. Preserve all numerical values and edition counts. Natural wrapping on narrow screens is allowed; do not clip text.
60″ × 48″ EDITION OF 7
40″ × 32″ EDITION OF 10
Arseni explicitly approved the previously proposed format across all seven public collections, mobile, fullscreen captions and the text library on 26 September 2026.
Approved and appliedFalling in Love only
Falling in Love: retain the wider spacing trial
Use two visible spaces between the dimensions and EDITION OF for Falling in Love. Preserve browser-visible spacing with a nonbreaking space plus a normal space. This individual trial does not change the default spacing for other artworks.
24″ × 40″ × 76″ EDITION OF 6

Verify missing or conflicting artwork facts
Use the live SI2 inventory as the factual reference for dimensions and edition counts. Match the artwork visually and by supporting metadata; filenames alone are insufficient. Photograph, Diamond Dust, lenticular and sculpture records are distinct. Do not copy an edition count from another work or medium. If a count is absent or sources conflict, flag it and obtain the correct value before publishing. Formatting compliance does not establish that edition information is complete.
Working safeguardAll artwork titles
Titles: preserve the latest explicit client decision
Preserve the approved title and spelling. Use inventory to investigate a conflict, not to silently override an explicit client correction such as adding The. Present conflicting versions with evidence and obtain approval for a title change. Do not invent an artwork URL from the visible title; verify that the final website link opens the intended work.

Keep formatting and CMS facts distinct
Main CMS owns collection artwork captions: description is the visible title; description2, description3 and description4 hold size/edition lines. A display formatter can leave raw CMS fields unchanged. Record which layer was changed. Respect active editor locks, preserve backups, and abort on unexpected source changes. Do not replace raw content with a stale local snapshot.
Before-and-after workflow
Read this guide and its approval scopes before making a caption change. Check the latest direct client instruction for any later revision.
Capture the current published caption, raw source fields, artwork identity, collection/medium and verified final URL.
Check each size-to-edition pairing and flag missing edition counts. Use live inventory for uncertain facts; do not guess.
Show a concrete before-and-after example and the affected scope. Obtain the applicable approval before changing wording, artwork facts or a pending layout.
Apply only the approved scope, retain backups and preserve all numerical values, dimension order, titles and URLs unless separately approved.
Verify the actual artwork on desktop and mobile, full-screen captions where available, and the searchable text library. Check wrapping, clipping, column layout and missing editions as separate issues.
Report the changed layer, before/after wording, approved versus applied status and any unresolved gaps. Never report all captions compliant solely because a formatter ran.
Decision history
26 September 2026: approved typography uses ″, × and EDITION OF without a colon; measurements and edition sizes must be preserved.
26 September 2026: an earlier instruction placed editions on a separate line. Later approvals superseded it with paired size-and-edition rows, first for sculptures and then for all seven collections.
26 September 2026: Lips and Love revised to two separate rows, each with its own EDITION OF 6. All six Sculpture Collection artworks updated in display and in the text library; CMS source fields retained.
26 September 2026: side-by-side caption columns were objected to. The replacement was initially held pending approval; Arseni subsequently explicitly approved it for all seven collections.
26 September 2026: this standards section requested for humans and AI agents. Creating documentation does not apply the pending sitewide layout change.
26 September 2026: a two-space size-to-edition gap approved and applied for Falling in Love only. The individual trial is retained alongside the sitewide row format.
26 September 2026: Arseni explicitly approved each size and edition together, with subsequent pairs underneath, across all seven public collections, mobile, fullscreen captions and the text library. Formatting changes preserve all measurements and edition counts; CMS source facts remain unchanged.
